He started his career creating advertising campaigns and editorials for fashion magazines. Being inspired by everything from art history and street culture to the Hawaiian jungle in which he lives, his images are filled with metaphors and references to both Pop culture and art history. Often provocative, surprising and shocking, his work projects an image both loving and critical. LaChapelle has developed a very recognizable colorful photographic style. Beside his photographic work, he also directs music videos and documentary films.

A self-taught artist, Jeff Ladouceur works primarily with ink, pencil and acrylic to create meticulous cartoons, which takes us beyond the limits of our imagination. His world is poetic and touching, yet his characters struggle with everyday life and surrealistic meetings, with cloud-creatures, tiny elephants, octopi, or an abominable snowman. Combining happiness and melancholy, his work is a surprising, weird encounter between innocence and the darkest irony as in a tragicomedy.

Peter Land, né en 1966 en Danemark, vit et travaille à Copenhague.
Les vidéos, les dessins et les installations de Land le montrent généralement dans des situations obsessionnelles et répétitives, souvent grotesques et caricaturales ou poussées à l’extrême. Enregistrer des actions et surtout, leur répétition, est une préoccupation constante dans son travail. L’artiste explore les conditions fondamentales de l’existence et essaie de trouver un sens à des actes qui semblent absurdes.
Land est son propre objet d’étude. Il utilise son corps, ses doutes et ses peurs afin de révéler la fragmentation, la dignité et l’absurdité de l’homme contemporain, elles mêmes prises dans les images du quotidien et transmises par nos codes culturels et les médias. Ce faisant, il devient psychanalyste de notre époque, tout autant lucide que mélancolique.

Beeldhouwer Laurent Martin, beter bekend als Laurent Lo, werd in 1955 in Frankrijk geboren. Hij studeerde aan de ‘École Nationale Supérieure des Art Décoratifs’ in Parijs.
In 2000 ontdekte hij de bamboe, een nobel en veelzijdig materiaal. Na zijn reizen rond Azië, in wat de kunstenaar 'de bamboe route' noemt, begin hij met de mogelijkheden van het materiaal te experimenteren: evenwicht, sensualiteit, lichtheid, spanning en flexibiliteit.
Zoals de kunstenaar het zelf uitlegt, maakt hij 'structuren-sculpturen' die permanent in beweging en in dialoog met ruimte en licht zijn.

Annie Leibovitz werd in 1949 in de Verenigde Staten geboren. Ze leeft en werkt in New York.
Tijdens haar studies schilderkunst in het San Franscisco Art Institute, volgde ze een avondcursus fotografie. Leibovitz is vooral bekend om haar intieme portretten van beroemdheden voor de Rolling Stone tijdschrift, waar ze gedurende 10 jaar werkte. Toen zij de job verliet, had ze al 142 covers geproduceerd. Haar beelden verschenen ook in Vanity Fair en Vogue.
Naast haar werkt voor tijdschriften, maakte Leibovitz reclamecampagnes en werkte ze met vele kunstorganisaties, zoals het American Ballet Theatre en Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Johan Lennarts werd in 1932 in Nederland geboren en overleed in 1991.
De kunstenaar ontwikkelde een veelzijdig oeuvre waarin het landschap een steeds terugkerende thema is. Naast schilderijen en tekeningen maakte hij, onder anderen, beeldhouwwerken, linogravures en glas-in-lood. Zijn stijlen en technieken zijn door de jaren heen veranderd. Hij was voortdurend op zoek naar nieuwe uitdagingen en wegen en experimenteerde met impressionisme, expressionisme, surrealisme en popart.

Thomas Lerooy werd in 1981 in België geboren. Hij woont en werkt in Gent.
In zijn sculpturen en tekeningen speelt hij met beelden die op de klassieke beeldhouwkunst en ook op allerlei illustraties in boeken, anatomische tekeningen en groteske beelden geïnspireerd zijn.

Lin Hairong est née en 1975 en China. Elle vit et travaille à Péking.
Lin est une grande admiratrice de la culture chinoise ancienne. Dans son travail elle essaie d’évoquer ce sentiment de calme contemplatif. De nombreux éléments dans ses peintures sont des remémorations de l’art traditionnel chinois; les détails précis et sobres; les couleurs douces; les personnages en deux dimensions.
Il y a aussi des échos du passé dans les postures fortement stylisées que l’artiste choisit pour ses personnages, généralement en les plaçant sur un fond non élaboré, suggérant ainsi une scène d’un drame du théâtre traditionnel. Bien qu’elles fassent constamment allusion au passé, ses œuvres sont résolument contemporaines.

Liu Bolin, also called The Invisible Man, became known for his series Hiding in the City (2005). Bolin is a multidisciplinary artist, using painting, photography, sculpture, and performance. By carefully painting his own body to seemingly fuse with and disappear into a variety of urban spaces, objects, and architectures, the artist explores the ways in which the places we live in shape our identities. After his first series, he extended his ‘camouflage actions’ from China to the rest of the world. Liu Bolin is concerned with the distance between: freedom and control, expression and silence, individual and collective, perceptible and invisible. Like other Chinese artists of his generation, his creations explore the experience of living in a quickly altering urban environment.
