 "Pair(s)" september - december 2015

Born in Italy in 1943, he lives and works in Fossombrone.

Italian artist Pier Paolo Calzolari is today considered as one of the most important members of the Arte Povera movement. This movement, which originated in Italy in the 1960s, is characterized by the use of everyday or “poor” materials (like dirt or cement) to create art. In his sculptures, installations and paintings, Calzolari uses materials like lead, salt, running water, eggs, feathers, butter, burned wood, dried tobacco leaves, wax and even frost to create abstract yet organic pieces, who live and change together with their medium.
