Les Artistes

"Inner Journeys" april - june 2013

Born in 1976 in France. Lives and works in Paris.

John Cornu’s body of works consists of seemingly minimalistic installations and sculptures, made up with simple and organic materials. His inspiration is based on the old concepts of in situ art: the starting point of his artworks is always their surrounding. Moreover, we can call him a contextual artist: he enjoys blurring the boundaries between the exhibition area and the artwork itself. Therefore, as he needs to bring a piece from one place to another, he always reconsiders it according to its new space. His minimalistic and conceptual aesthetics investigates and puts into perspective topics dear to the romantics, such as the poetic of the ruin and the falling.
