Born in Belgian Congo (Democratic Republic of Congo) in 1949, he lives and works in Brussels.
Jacques Courtejoie is a photographer and art teacher. He creates photo collages and montages, often finding inspiration in old picture books. A central theme in his art is the representation of his inner world: his photographs thus capture his hopes, his fears and his memories in a dreamlike manner. Courtejoie often paints over his photographs to add a new layer to the images. His use of faded colors mimicks the way memory and souvenirs fade, but he also likes to use bold colors and golden hues to create a more Baroque-like effect.
