Born in 1937 in Brazil and died in 1980.
Hélio Oiticica was one of the most innovative Brazilian artists of his generation and has produced a remarkable body of work, including from abstract compositions to early environmental installations. He was constantly seeking to challenge the way in which art could be experienced. As a member of the Frente group (movement which explored geometric language) and later of the Neo-Concrete group, the use of color was central to his practice. Oiticica was concerned with the visual dynamics and the effects of color, not just in the internal structure of his works, but also in their relationship with/to the environment and the spectator. His creations were largely accompanied by theoretical elaborations, commentaries and poems.

Multidisciplinary artist Hans Op de Beeck was born in 1969 in Belgium. He lives and works in Brussels.
His work consists of sculptures, installations, video work, photography, animated films, drawings, paintings and writing (short stories). It is his quest for the most effective way of presenting the tangible contents of each work that determines the medium that he ultimately selects. The artist not only uses a very wide variety of media, but also deliberately employs a diversity of aesthetic forms, ranging from an economical, minimalist visual language to overloaded, exaggerated designs.
Thematically, his work concentrates on our laborious and problematic relationship with time, space and one another. Op de Beeck shows the viewer non-existent, yet identifiable places, moments and characters that appear to have been taken from contemporary everyday life. In his images, he aims to capture the tragicomic absurdity of our postmodern existence.

Born in 1979 in Cuba. Lives and works in Mexico City.
Ariel Orozco is known for using the city and its inhabitants as a setting of his practice as well as for creating complex and challenging works of art with virtually nothing. Political and social by nature, his work largely consists of performing little actions and interventions, which he methodically documents in photographs, videos or installations. Through Orozco acute observation of daily activities, he allows the viewer to reflect upon social processes, interactions between individuals and their political context, or upon the artistic creation itself.

Tony Oursler was born in the USA in 1957. He currently lives and works in New York.
Oursler has used the medium of film to create his own unique sculptural aesthetic, taking the images out of the television box and making them function in three-dimensional space. A recurrent theme in Oursler's work is the way in which visual technologies influence and even modify our social and psychological selves.
His practice continuously engages with popular culture and questions how mechanical reproduction systems, like photography, film and television, have come to dictate not only the way we see the world, but also the ways that images are constructed.
